Suicide Matters

This is a community page with the aim of providing education, information and resources in the area of mental health and suicide.

Please note the following before you read any furtherDisclaimer: All information provided is based on my own personal and professional knowledge and experience and in no way reflects the opinion of others. It is not intended to generalise the experience of the the population referred to, the purpose is to help those who are looking for information and resources to help them in their current situation. My aim is to reduce the stigma attached to mental health and suicide and to this end I use personal and professional knowledge and experience to normalise these topics as much as I can without exposing any names, dates, places, events, situations, genders and so forth. It is therefore unavoidable at times to generalise situations and events.

I have worked for many years with people who have experienced mental health issues and suicidal problems. I have personally and professional experienced the impact mental health problems and suicide has on individuals and their loved ones.

The purpose of this page is to get people to start talking about mental health and suicide issues. We need to talk about it, so that people who are experiencing symptoms of mental illness or suicide can reach out to us and others. If we are not talking about it then people who feel suicidal, depressed anxious or unwell will not feel safe enough to tell us.

Talking about mental health and suicide is uncomfortable. So lets get uncomfortable together, and start helping those of us who are struggling in silence and isolation to prevent us from feeling uncomfortable. How often I have heard people say "I don't want to upset them, or burden them, or worry them.........."
